Hi all, Today could have been terrible - the invited talk over-ran, the projector in the great hall didn't work, the monitor screws were wrong, the monitor cables were wrong, the demo chairs took too many poster boards, ... But, it wasn't! We've had so much good feedback about how well things have gone. Here's the update before Thursday, sent -- as is traditional -- after midnight: i) Camcorder Safra is locked, so I can't install the camera before the invited talk in the morning. I'll set it up on the tripod at the back of K0.20, plugged in to charge. It can go (with the legs not extended) on the balcony of Safra in the middle. ii) Invited speaker Actually I met Susanne today and gave her her bag. She knows what she's doing, and Stefan Edelkamp is all ready to session chair. Tanja, can you operate the camcorder? (You are of course welcome to talk to Susanne and Stefan if you want.) iii) Reg desk People will want guest tickets. Here's the list of confirmed: Attendee : +1 for Chris Beck Attendee : +1 for Pedro Santana Attendee : +1 for Claudio Salvatore De Mutiis Attendee : +1 for Alexander Shleyfman Attendee : +1 for Federico Comitani Attendee : Aylin Savas Attendee : +1 for Mark Roberts Attendee : +2 for Mark Roberts Attendee : +1 for Davide Venturelli Attendee : +1 for Steve Smith If any of the above come for a ticket, go ahead and write them one on the blank banquet ticket paper (pale green card, says 'guest banquet ticket'). If anyone else asks for tickets tell them to email me a request. I'll make final decisions on numbers by midday. iv) Session helpers I've thinned the rota down. One person in each room is enough. In the Great Hall, operate the camcorder. In Safra, just be generally present in case anything hits the fan. iv) Bought-in help I've hired an assistant for the day. She'll be covering the desk during the best paper session (that we really shouldn't miss), and otherwise being generally helpful. v) I'm getting some sleep I'll not be around before talks start tomorrow. I've put all the signage up now - apart from moving the tripod we're good to go.
