Hi all, Next Friday (Sept 18), Dr Doug Lange (Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific) is visiting, and he agreed to give a talk. Room S1.12, Friday 18 at 12.00. Best, Dan Title: Control of Networks with Autonomy Abstract: We will review a general case in the control of networks containing autonomous systems. Beginning with a description of research projects being pursued at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific, we will discuss planning and control of individual autonomous systems as well as teams that include autonomous systems. We will also discuss how autonomy teamed with humans can provide improved control over complex networks of autonomous systems. Bio: Dr. Doug Lange Doug Lange is the Chief Scientist for Command and Control at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific in San Diego, California. He is responsible for defining a technical vision and leading research projects. His particular interest is in the application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to Command and Control systems. One current focus of these research efforts is the interaction between human decision makers and autonomous systems. Doug Lange received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Software Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey California. Prior to that, he received his B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of California, Davis. -- Dr Daniele Magazzeni Lecturer Department of Informatics King's College London Office S6.19 Tel: +44 (0)20 7848 1587 Twitter: @danmagazzeni http://www.inf.kcl.ac.uk/staff/danmag
