Hi all, Sorry I couldn't join the planning meeting today, but I'm about to flight to Madrid as tomorrow I'll join a panel discussion on legal aspects on AI and Robotics. I'll brief you when I'm back. As I announced earlier, we have Dr. Achille Fonzone (in Cc) visiting us for the next 4 weeks. He's sitting in the hot desk, close to Bram. Please welcome him. Achille will give a talk on his research (Public Transport) at the next planning meeting (Wednesday 30, at 1pm). Below title and abstract. See you on Monday. Best, Dan --------------------------------------------------------------------- Why Intelligent Transport System (ITS) data are important if you are interested in public transport passenger behaviour Also in transport data is everywhere: travellers can rely on the advice of well-informed journey planners, transport operators can monitor the performance of means in real-time, planners have huge amount of data to get to know cities and city-dwellers. The seminar will discuss the potential for intelligent mobility applications enabled by ITS data, looking at the demand for innovation as it emerges from a Transport Catapult report. Then it will focus on data and public transport behaviour, illustrating how ITS data can be used to understand travellers' behaviour in the case of Santander Cycles Scheme. Finally, it will show the results of a survey investigating the actual impact of real-time information on bus passengers. --------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Dr Daniele Magazzeni Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence, King's College London Head, AI Planning Group Editor-in-Chief, AI Communications http://www.inf.kcl.ac.uk/staff/danmag
